Cancer is a class of disease that harms the body when damaged cells divide uncontrollably to form masses of tissue called tumor. These cells do not have orderly growth, division or death which a normal cell used to have. This is where cancer begins to form in the body.

Generally, cancer treatment falls into anyone of the following category: Surgery, Radiation therapy, Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Hormone therapy, or Gene therapy. All these treatments are standard treatments of cancer. Doctors will identify the type of cancer, how far it has spread and determines the stage of the cancer during the diagnosis stage. After diagnosing the patient, doctors will decide which technique to use. But in none of these methods it is guaranteed for no side effects and no recurrence of cancer.

One way that helps patients to get rid of pains and side effects is that going for alternative cancer treatments.

Alternative cancer treatment helps one to cope with symptoms caused by cancer. They may lessen the pain an individual undergoes from cancer treatments. Alternative treatments have no role to play in curing the cancer.

Some of the alternative treatments for cancer include acupuncture, biofeedback, exercise, hypnosis, meditation, music therapy, chiropractic, aromatherapy, relaxation techniques, herbal medicines, Tai chi and yoga.

There are number of advantages and disadvantages associated with alternative treatment methods. One advantage is that the patients themselves can choose the type of treatment they can undergo. They can identify this by reviewing the experience of the practitioner in such therapy and also by interacting with people who have undergone such treatment.

Alternative treatment methods do not have any proven records like standard treatment methodologies. This is the only disadvantage of this treatment.
